Computer laptops may be doing more harm than good in university classrooms, a recent study has found. (via Toronto Star)

Students who use laptops for taking notes write more but retain less than classmates who write notes longhand on paper, according to a recently published paper by Pam Mueller of Princeton University and Daniel Oppenheimer of the University of California, Los Angeles.
“They tend to try to write everything down instead of trying to sort out what’s important and what’s not,” Mueller said in a telephone interview.
The study was published in the current issue of Psychological Science journal and is entitled “The Pen is Mightier Than the Keyboard: Advantages of Longhand Over Laptop Note Taking.”

In fact, I was among the most employable young men in the world
