One American expert says this system should be a model for the practice internationally.  Read more. why should “permitted” be a model for anything?! what business has the government in criminalizing my action of putting something into my own body / get high / get wasted?! being hopeful about “backdoor legalization” is like feeling happy for getting your tax refund.

The fake dope, Shakespeare and his stepdaughter A bungling man and his dopey stepdaughter were caught smuggling what they thought was a £1million haul of cannabis - only to discover the drugs were worthless fakes. (via Man and his stepdaughter caught smuggling £1m cannabis haul… but drugs were actually FAKE | Mail Online) Prosecutor Llewellyn Sellick said Cox told police he had become involved to pay off a drug debt owed by his son. He was paid 3,000 Euros in advance and was to be given a further 22,000 Euros upon delivery. Mr Sellick said Shakespeare’s finger prints were found on bags and tapes around the fake cannabis while there was also a text message linking her to the drugs. In mitigation, John McNally for Cox said his client had serious long term health problems. He noted how he had attempted to help his son who was being pursued for money and Cox was put under pressure. He said Cox was appallingly foolish to undertake the smuggling task on March 14 last year to pay off the debt. Nicholas Ham, mitigating for Shakespeare, said she was trapped in a legal battle for her home following a messy divorce.

The demand curve for drugs is extremely inelastic, meaning that people don’t change their drug consumption very much in response to changes in prices. Therefore, vigorous enforcement means higher prices and higher revenues for drug dealers. (via Let’s Be Blunt: It’s Time to End the Drug War - Forbes) The more effective prohibition is at raising costs, the greater are drug industry revenues. So, more effective prohibition means that drug sellers have more money to buy guns, pay bribes, fund the dealers, and even research and develop new technologies in drug delivery (like crack cocaine). It’s hard to beat an enemy that gets stronger the more you strike against him or her. Yesterday, April 20, was pot day. I would’ve mentioned it, but was too high :)))
