Patrick Henri Devillers, 52, is one of two Westerners in China known to have had close business ties to the family of deposed Chinese politician Bo Xilai, specifically with Bo’s wife who is accused of murdering the other expatriate, Neil Heywood. (via Insight: French architect could be pivotal figure in China scandal | Reuters) ..this is such a weird story, esp. since Reuters’ William Maclean, Peter Griffiths, Michael Martina, Marc Joanny and Thomas Hals seem to have adopted the paleocommunist line that friendships with foreigners are verbotten; this can’t possibly be true anymore in China’s state capitalism.
