The 27-year-old arrived for a New York meeting with potential Facebook investors earlier this week wearing a black sweatshirt with a hood, a relatively sobre outfit for the man who is said to have worn his pyjamas to a meeting with venture capitalists. I think this is awesome. Zuckerberg for president! :)
- The criticism was greeted with amusement in the technology world, where casual dress is more common than formal suits. Technology blog, The Next Web, published an article headlined “Odd analyst mocks Zuck’s hoodie, ironically sounding stupid in a suit while doing so”.
- He added: “Now if you were looking for a problem with Zuckerberg’s hoodie, then you should see it for what it really is: a fashion abomination.”
- As users move away from computers and onto mobile phones, Facebook is finding it harder to make money from them. In an update to its regulatory filings, the social network said unless Facebook can better target mobile users “our financial performance and ability to grow revenue would be negatively affected”.
- Last year, 85 per cent of Facebook’s $3.7bn revenues came from advertising served up on its main website. Although Facebook’s revenues rose to $1.06bn in the first quarter, from $731m a year ago, its profits fell to $205m from $233m, which it blamed on hiring more staff, and rising marketing and development spending.
- Despite Mr Zuckerberg’s fondness for casual clothes, he did put on a jacket and tie when meeting President Barack Obama in April last year. President Obama said: “I’m the guy who got Mark to wear a jacket and tie.” Mr Zuckerberg was, however, still wearing jeans.
